I took a second pass at the indiebookclub UI I was working on. I kept getting stuck because I wanted to let people update the title/author/ISBN in case they were incorrect in Open Library, but I also thought that made the form feel too busy.
Input device on my docked #cyberdeck controlling a terminal ssh'd into my portable deck in the other room that's pumping audio into my bone conducting headset for my terminal screen reader. Pulling in services over the local #p2p net.
feeling a twinge of joy from doing a local full-text search of an intentionally-misspelled word in my personal photos. no cloud shit here, or "did you mean".
Step one for my audio-only setup is done. I can have audio (and speech-dispatcher) running without a graphical session. Next I'll either keep banging my head trying to get these TTY screen readers to work or make my own one.
"open source" is powerless to do anything meaningful at all, we even use the term for binary blob LLM weights that nobody can reproduce without a million dollars and a hoard of stolen data.
