Now that I'm thinking about this again, another totally different option is to add support for YouTube's special RSS stuff to the parser that Aperture uses to fetch feeds. Is that an ugly option? Yes. Would it work well? Yes.

This would also be reasonable! I’m probably halfway done getting this proxy method deployed using simplepie for parsing and can confirm this is gross. I’ll share what I come up with!

The basic secret here is just “media rss” (mrss, in a lovely defunct yahoo namespace). That said, it seems like YouTube’s use of it has drifted over the years, if not the mrss spec itself!
